How to Remove Background in Photoshop

Duplicate Background Layer: CTRL+J
Hide Background Layer
Select Background Eraser Tool

Sampling (Middle Icon)
Discontiguous
Tolerance 32
Increase diameter of tool
the crosshair samples what to erase and preserves everything else
click on background and drag

Add Solid color layer below with gray color to see fragments
Continue use of Background Eraser Tool
Use Paint Bucket: Mode Clear, 32 tolerance, NO to all layers
Use regular Eraser to get rid of rest of junk
Use Paint Bucket to remove tiny areas too
CTRL+Click on current layer to make selection
Delete current layer
Change Background Layer to Layer 1
Move Layer 1 to top and click Add Mask
Click on Mask
Use Brush Tool: Hard edged, Overlay. Will darken any gray areas and preserve white areas.
Lower opacity to 45% to clean hair
Set Brush back to Normal 100%
Alt+Click on New Layer button.

Check "Use previous layer to create clipping mask", Mode: Hue

Select some good color areas with eyedropper and brush areas that are discolored to remove cast
Click on link icon and then the mask, Filter: Gaussian Blur 2 pixels
Use Levels and slide to the right the midpoint to suck in the border
Zoom in on hair click on mask (#17) Use brush to clean up highlights (remove cast color)
Make another clipping mask (see#17) but use Mode: Darken. Adjust opacity to around 35%.
Use Brush and sample good color and brush over cast areas.
